Why Wipes & Micellar Waters Don’t Cut It

Why Wipes & Micellar Waters Don’t Cut It

Last week, while exhibiting my products at an event, I had a conversation with a fellow business owner showcasing greeting cards. She asked about my products and the essentials of a good skincare routine. As I explained, she confessed she uses wipes to cleanse her face. I was stunned - but it’s not the first time I’ve heard this!

Let me set the record straight: micellar waters and wipes were originally designed for temporary use in situations where water isn’t accessible, like camping or traveling. They were never meant to replace a proper cleanse.

Why Wipes & Micellar Waters Aren’t Enough

  • Inefficient Cleaning: If you wear makeup, you’d need at least four wipes or several cotton pads soaked in micellar water to remove it all properly—and even then, your skin wouldn’t be fully clean.

  • Harsh Ingredients: Many of these products contain alcohol, fragrance, and other non-natural ingredients that can irritate and dry out your skin.

  • Rough on Skin: Constant rubbing with these products can leave your face sore and vulnerable to irritation.

Bottom line: make micellar water or wipes a temporary substitute only when water isn’t available, not a permanent fixture in your routine. A proper cleanse with water and a gentle, natural cleanser is essential to truly care for your skin.
